Food + Fashion + Fun = Nourishing Wellness, a fund Food + Fashion + Fun = Nourishing Wellness, a fundraising luncheon for Dove Hospice and Wellness.

Tickets are on sale now for Nourishing Wellness, an inaugural fundraising luncheon being held next month to support Dove Hospice and Wellness.

Kiwi fashion icon and business powerhouse Karen Walker will be the guest speaker at what promises to be a sold-out event.

A long-time supporter of Dove, Karen will share her personal story around her connection to Dove and the important role Dove shops play in promoting sustainable fashion.

‘Nourishing Wellness’ will be held on Friday 9th June at Siso Bar and Restaurant in Remuera starting at 11.30am.

Guests at the event will enjoy a welcome cocktail, a three-course meal with wine, live entertainment, a special guest speaker and an exciting silent and live auction overseen by MC, champion auctioneer Aaron Davis from Harcourts.

Designer handbags, limited edition artwork and beauty packages are just some of the items in the Silent Auction, and the list is growing thanks to the generosity of local businesses.

All proceeds from this event will help Dove Hospice & Wellness continue to deliver our services at no cost to our patients, their whānau and carers.

⭐️Ongoing support from the community⭐️

Responding to community demand and having developed and proven we could operate successful retail charity shops, Dove proceeded to open further Dove Hospice Shops in Remuera in 2014, and in the Meadowbank Shopping mall in 2017.

We wish to acknowledge and thank the steadfast support of Rotary, and in particular the Rotary Club of St Johns. Over the years Rotary assisted Dove in many ways including providing volunteers to run various garage and book sales. Most recently in 2021, the Rotary Club of St Johns in partnership with New World Stonefields hosted a golf tournament raising $23,000 for EBHT.
To conclude Hospice Awareness Week, we want to ack To conclude Hospice Awareness Week, we want to acknowledge everyone who has supported us through the years.

Because of our community's help, we can provide our services at no cost to people living with life-threatening illness and support their whānau and carers.

Help us continue our hospice and holistic care services by donating, attending one of our fundraisers, volunteering for us or visiting one of our Dove Hospice Shops in your local area.

Thanks again to all our amazing clients and staff for sharing your stories this week; we hope we have given everyone an insight into the important role hospices fill in our community. 🌼
“I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer last “I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer last year. I was referred to Dove House during my chemotherapy treatment for the side effects that I was experiencing. I wasn’t aware of their treatments that they offered until I was referred there.

…I found it was very therapeutic, not just in the treatments I was receiving but just having a very safe place to go to where I felt understood. I think being a young person also comes with a lot of challenges. I guess a lot of judgement, feeling like I shouldn’t be in the hospital, and I shouldn’t be in the chemo ward…

…I just can’t thank them enough for the way that they’ve helped me to recovery… I really don’t believe I’d be in the position I am now had I not been referred to Dove House.”

It is extremely difficult for a young person to be diagnosed with a terminal illness, and Jess tells her story of her experience with cancer as a part of Hospice Awareness Week.

It’s normal to associate hospices with an older demographic, but life-limiting illness can affect people of all ages. In addition, hospices are traditionally known for end-of-life care, but here at Dove, we also care for those on a curative path from the point of diagnosis of their terminal illness.

Thank you, Jess, for telling your story; we’re happy we were able to give you the safe space you needed when you were going through a very challenging part of your life. 😊
“I see the staff here are very caring… the way “I see the staff here are very caring… the way they counsel, the way they help just generally for people that are going through cancer.

…Back in those days there was never really the help, there was never really the support. Where these days its changed so much, where there’s opportunities to have counselling, acupuncture, massage, aromatherapy and also having doctors at hand when needed, which is really great.

I’ve seen people that are at the Dove Wing that are really supported by the staff that work here at Dove House… they are really giving, and they give their time, they give their help… You can see the sincerity of its just not another person, but that person is very, very special.”

Mike, one of our gardeners at St Andrew’s Village, expressed how he has seen Dove impact our community as a part of Hospice Awareness Week. Last year, we hosted a photography fundraiser featuring his work and he donated all his earnings to our hospice. He is also known for opening some of our Dove House events with his beautiful Karakia.

Thank you for being a strong advocate for our services Mike and for sharing your thoughtful words about our clinical team. Your support in recent years in helping flourish our Dove House Garden has made a significant difference to our clients and staff. 😁
