@regaldrycleanersnz has been integral in the care @regaldrycleanersnz has been integral in the care of our hand-knits for tomorrow's Karen Walker pop-up!

They have warmly offered their services, drycleaning all the knits ready to be worn for immediate wear.

"Before you give up on something, bring it to us first! We have seen the worst of the worst from crazy impossible stains and tricky complicated fabrics/designs. Don’t give up hope when something seems ruined or hasn’t been successful at home... It isn’t hopeless until Regal says its hopeless." To read more about their services, visit the link in our bio > Regal inspires you to be ‘Kind to your Clothes. Kind to your Planet.’

Drop by at the pop-up tomorrow at Playpark by Karen Walker Newmarket and give a new home to one of our one-of-a-kind hand-knits.

All money raised will be going toward our services providing holistic care and support at no cost to people with life-threatening illness, their families and carers.

Thank you Regal Drycleaners for all your support. 😁
Dove Hospice & Wellness x Karen Walker pop-up is b Dove Hospice & Wellness x Karen Walker pop-up is back again at Playpark by Karen Walker Newmarket this Friday!

From Friday 1 – Sunday 3 July or while stock lasts, Karen will host a mini pop-up in her Newmarket store, offering an eclectic edit of one-of-a-kind pre-loved hand knits to fundraise for our services.

Karen and the team at Dove have combed through the generous donations to the charity to present an eclectic edit of quality hand-knitted wool—each piece is one-of-a-kind, but all feature a common thread; they were lovingly made and worn before being donated to Dove Hospice & Wellness.

Embodying community spirit, Regal Drycleaners, Karen’s long-time neighbours a few doors down, have once again kindly pitched in with their services and all the knits have been dry-cleaned, ready for immediate wear.

The knits will retail for $80 (adults’ sweaters), $35 (children’s sweaters), $35 (blankets), and $20 (accessories), and all the money raised from sales will go to Dove Hospice & Wellness.

We'd like to thank Karen, her team, and Regal Drycleaners for supporting us again this year by hosting this pop-up. We're so thankful for your generosity and the difference that you make in our community! 😊
Take your team for a day volunteering for Dove! Take your team for a day volunteering for Dove!

The wonderful Karen Walker and her lovely team volunteered for us this National Volunteer Week at our Distribution Centre. They sorted our donations, quality checking our products which are distributed to all our shops that raise money for our services.

If your company or anyone you know might be interested to donate some time for us, let us know!

It's an easy process and we'd be incredibly thankful to accept your gift of time. 😊

For more information or to apply directly via our website, please visit the link in our bio > 'Volunteer with us!' to fill in our volunteer application form.

Alternatively, you can email volunteer@dovehospice.org.nz to express your interest and discuss the opportunities on how to become a volunteer for us.

Thanks again to the Karen Walker team for helping out this week! 😁
“I have really enjoyed being in the kitchen and “I have really enjoyed being in the kitchen and I can remember the first day I arrived... “make 3 loads of club sandwiches and bake a cake by 10:30" and I have never made a club sandwich in my life! It was a very fast learning curve.

What I really love about volunteering here is the atmosphere in this house. The beauty in this house, the love in this house, the care that the staff gives to the patients. It’s just amazing. It's an incredible experience to come in here and see just how wonderful this facility is.”

Our Dove House Volunteer Advocate, Carol, has been with us for the past 3 years. Her lovely energy, warmth, enthusiasm, and hard work is always wonderful to have around Dove.

We appreciate all your time and effort that you have spent with us Carol, thank you! 🙏🏼

Mānawatia a Matariki — Happy Māori New Year! Mānawatia a Matariki — Happy Māori New Year!

This month before Matariki approached, the Dove Team was delighted to celebrate the completion of the newly developed Native Garden out in front of Dove House.

This was an idea developed by Stephanie and Iain from the St Andrews Village Gardening Team. Historically, the stars of Matariki were also closely tied to planting and harvesting, so we thought returning native plants to the whenua seemed an appropriate way to celebrate Matariki — the stars of the Pleiades cluster signify things connected to our environment and the health and wellbeing of people.

We met together and thanked the team of gardeners, Mike offered a blessing and Lesley recited a poem by Gunilla Norris, a gardener poet. We finished the blessing with a cuppa and some kai. We’re looking forward to seeing our plants bloom, grow and evolve, enjoyed by our native birds!

Matariki is a time to come together and celebrate, acknowledge the past, and look ahead to what the new year will bring. Let us enjoy this time of reflection and remember those in our lives, both here and those who have passed, whom we are grateful for.

Ngā mihi o Matariki, te tau hou Māori.
